Albion College is a traditional liberal arts college that offers no equine science or equine studies programs, but future equestrian professionals who are enrolled full-time in one of Albion’s academic majors may train for their British Horse Society examinations while they are enrolled at the school, allowing them to graduate with both a Bachelor of Arts degree as well as an internationally-recognized equestrian qualification. All British Horse Society lectures and training sessions include hands-on, practical work in the stable, though individual student schedules may vary. Albion College presents a rare opportunity for students: the ability to earn a bachelor’s degree and go on to an exciting professional career as well as the chance to continue riding, training, and showing horses at the highest level. The College offers onsite boarding, training and lessons, as well as Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) and Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA) competition in dressage, hunt seat and western. In addition, the Held Equestrian Center hosts clinics featuring top equestrian professionals and horse shows in several disciplines. The Held Center itself offers accommodation for all riding disciplines, the most popular being hunters, dressage, show jumping, eventing and western.
