The American Riding Instructor Certification Program (ARICP) was established in 1984 to validate the qualifications of riding instructors. The major objective of the program is to identify riding instructors who teach in a safe, competent, and professional manner, and who possess a high degree of knowledge and integrity. Since the establishment of the ARICP, many teaching facilities and insurers are requiring that their instructors be ARICP-certified. ARICP’s emphasis on safe teaching practices has resulted in some of the major insurance companies who write equine policies giving ARICP- certified instructors a substantial reduction on their liability insurance. The ARICP offers certification to instructors of all levels of experience and in virtually all teaching specialties. If you are an instructor who would like to further your career, apply for ARICP certification at one of the ARICP one-day test centers. One-day test centers are held at various locations around the country throughout the year.
