School Information
Type of School:
Private University
Tuition Costs:
Tuition for full load (16 credits) plus dorm room and cafeteria charges (2008-09) is $13,039. Scholarships ranging from $2,000-$8,000 per year are possible based on GPA and test scores.
Facilities:
Andrews does not yet have its own dedicated equine facility but will partner with the stables and veterinary clinics around the area for the hands-on instruction. There are many local stables for convenient boarding of a student’s horse. A fund-raising program is in development to erect a state-of-the-art facility on the University property of more than 1000 acres.
Class ratio:
Almost all the classes have a laboratory/hands-on component; those that do usually have 2 hours of lecture and 3 hours of lab per week. Internships offer concentrated hands-on experience.
Showing:
Currently there is no equestrian team but that is part of the plan for the future.

Andrews University offers 4-year Bachelor degrees from 26 departments and graduate degrees from 4 schools within it, and is a faith-based institution emphasizing the development of the whole person. After months of surveys, curriculum research and interviews, the Agriculture Department at Andrews University will begin offering courses the Fall of 2008 in Equine Science which is a new emphasis in the Animal Science degree program. It will include courses in nutrition, physiology, anatomy, behavior, genetics, reproduction, judging, health/disease, hippotherapy, massage, dentistry and more. The first course in the program will be ‘Equine Health and Disease’ taught by a veterinarian. Keep checking with us as this program is growing and changing each year.
