Facilities:
Facilities include 52 horses, fully trained and experienced staff, indoor school, two-furlong round all-weather gallop, seven-furlong straight all-weather and grass gallop, stalls and schooling fences, equicisors and horse simulators, radio headsets for instruction while riding, video recording of riding for performance analysis, and hostel with catering and recreational facilities.

The Foundation Course includes NVQ Level 2; trainees ride out at least twice every day and are responsible for looking after two horses during their nine-week (fully residential) stay. Seventy-five percent of Level 2 is completed at the school; the other 25 percent is completed at their guaranteed job in a trainer’s yard. Advanced Modern Apprenticeships program is based around NVQ Level 3; candidates are also required to complete Key Skills, and are required to compile a portfolio of evidence to prove their competence under the guidance of a mentor. The majority of the training will take place in the workplace, supported by training at the BRS as required. Professional Jockeys Course covers the essential information that they will be required to know before they ride in public. Further development training is available to seven-pound claimers with continuation courses, and apprentices and conditionals will attend the Intermediate Course once they lose their seven-pound claim. Amateur Jockeys: applicants for Amateur Category A and B Licenses must attend mandatory training. Voluntary training is also provided for both flat and National Hunt amateurs as well as point-to-point riders. One-on-one training can be arranged as required.
