The Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science is a broad-based, scientific program with a large component of hands-on learning. An emphasis in Equine Science allows students to specialize in horses within the broader Animal Science curriculum. The Master of Science degree in animal science offers in depth study in animal nutrition, reproduction, and management. The M.S. program has considerable flexibility, and students interested in horses may, with the direction of an adviser and a thesis committee, conduct a research project in an area of equine interest. Hunt seat and Western styles taught. Horse Production, Advanced Horse Management, Equine Nutrition, Stable Management and Colt Training courses are offered. All courses except Equine Nutrition have a laboratory component. Experiential learning at our two campus horse units is strongly emphasized.
