Two instructed rides per week; 2 days open for recreational riding; riding class size averages six students. Five instructors. Riding styles taught: hunter/jumper, dressage, and eventing. Equine Facility Management: designed for individuals interested in the management of boarding barns, competition stables, training farms, sales facilities, racetracks, horse show complexes, etc. Ideal combination of equine care and business environment. Equestrian Teacher/Trainer: prepares dedicated, talented individuals to become riders, trainers, and riding instructors. Includes preparation to provide quality equestrian facility management. Equine Stud Farm Management Concentration: prepares individuals for positions in the equine breeding industry. Provides opportunities for practical experience at the college’s breeding facility. Internships at other breeding farms provide knowledge and expertise in farm management, breeding, foaling, and marketing. Strong foundation for veterinary school. The business concentration focuses on skills required to function well within the business environment. The Therapeutic Horsemanship concentration leads to certification. Equine Studies majors may select from several international equestrian experiences. Students may study at an established site in England or arrange an individualized program in Germany, Spain, Ireland, or Australia. LEC intercultural experiences range in duration from two weeks to an academic year, depending upon individual interests and circumstances. Full time students are eligible for a free trip abroad after five semesters enrolled at LEC.
