All-girls boarding and day secondary school. Offering excellent academics combined with a quality riding program, Madeira is a unique place for the dedicated student who loves to ride. The goal of the Madeira Riding Program is to develop confident and disciplined riders capable of participating in a wide range of equestrian activities. Hunter seat equitation, basic dressage, and principles of cross-country riding are integral parts of the curriculum. Students enroll in the program at the start of each trimester. Riding three times a week in the Madeira Riding Program fulfills the physical education requirement. Instruction in hunter seat equitation is offered for beginning through advanced riders. Extra riding opportunities include hacking outside of class, competitions, clinics, and traditional special events like the Parent’s Weekend Horse Show, Founder’s Day Gymkhana, and Graduation Gallop.
