7,500 square feet of forge and shoeing area, 200-square-foot tool room with private lockers for each student, 1000-square-foot metal shop, 600 square feet of modern classroom space, complete with central heat and air.

An eight-week program. Twelve to fourteen students per class, with two instructors. The program is broken into three categories: classroom training, forge work and shoeing/trimming. Classroom training consists of studying the equine anatomy, conformation and movement, lameness and therapeutic shoeing, gait analysis, shoeing for disciplines, and business skills (bookkeeping, marketing strategies). Forge work consists of creating fourteen handmade shoes that have use either in therapeutic shoeing or a specific discipline. In shoeing/trimming, all feet are shod and trimmed to the American Farriers Association’s certification standards.
