The Equine Business Management program has been specifically designed for the student who wishes to work in the horse industry, but not necessarily in the area of training. Our program is for those who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in the many other areas now open to them. For a successful career, we want students to gain the academic knowledge they cannot learn in the barn, and practical skills they cannot learn in the classroom! It should be a combination of both, as well as a willingness to continue to learn throughout their lives in whatever career they choose. A good grounding in specialized business courses, together with a variety of equine classes and ‘on the job’ training and co-ops in the equestrian field, gives students the tools needed to be successful in the very diverse horse industry. Courses such as Stable Management, Anatomy and Nutrition, Equine Business Ethics and the Senior Seminar are the requirements for the equine program, but there are a lot of elective choices, both equine and business, which can lead to the Off-campus Certifications or On-campus Concentrations offered as part of the degree. All students select courses that will give their studies the focus they desire for their career goals.
