Rancho Del Castillo

Hands-on seminars are held at Rancho Del Castillo year-round. Seminars are typically held on the weekends; participants arrive Friday night and depart Sunday night. However, seminars can be held at any time, depending on the racing schedule. Ms. Del Castillo tries to schedule seminars so that a race or workout is available for observation at the track; this allows participants to see and understand the logical transition from the farm to the racetrack. Horses are turned out to graze for a portion of every day at the farm; then they are loaded into the van and taken to the track to gallop, work, or race. Students are involved in every part of the process, allowing them to determine how to adapt their own circumstances to racing off the farm. The fourth edition of Backyard Race Horse is now available and covers all the information that is presented during the seminars. “From Start to Win: The Evolution of Major Parker with Off-Track Training to On-Track Winning” a new DVD following the training methods covered in Backyard Race Horse and the seminars is now available.
