SMWC offers three majors in the department of equine studies. The general equine studies degree is the most flexible, allowing the students to choose from a variety of equine studies electives while taking the equine science and business core courses. The training and instruction major incorporates many training courses, as well as courses designed for those who wish to become instructors. The equine business management major, while still requiring a thorough grounding in horse care and management, relies heavily on business course offerings to prepare students for a career in an equine-related business. The facilities at SMWC are modern, well-appointed and are located right on campus. The equestrian team is highly competitive in both English and Western disciplines; athletic scholarships are available. The modern classroom/laboratory facility is comfortable and workable. Students learn from highly-trained faculty in small classes (most have twelve or fewer students). Job placement of graduates is excellent.
