Stoneleigh-Burnham School sits on a 100 acre campus with wooded bridle trails, cross country courses and a European Derby field all suitable for lessons, shows or a relaxing ride. Our riding rings include: an indoor competition ring measuring 100ft x 200ft with adjacent warm-up arena at 70ft x 120ft and two outdoor sand rings. Stabling is available within 2 separate barns with room for 57 horses, 40 of which are owned by the school and are available for lessons or leasing. Each barn has a wash/vet stall, tack room and cleaning area and personal lockers for students to store their belongings.
Showing:
Stoneleigh-Burnham School hosts on average, one show a month on its campus. The riders may compete and participate in any of the USEA, IEA, USEF, or NEHC rated horse shows either on campus or in the area. Students may also travel to many of the local or regional shows individually or as a team.

For the serious rider, the riding program at Stoneleigh-Burnham School bridges life at the barn and life in the classroom and blends the two into an exceptional educational experience. Students learn that horsemanship takes place both in and out of the saddle. The riding program offers instruction in hunt seat equitation, show jumping, eventing and dressage from one of our four highly experienced equestrian instructors. Riding students can ride on a daily basis and take a minimum of three lessons a week. Students have the option to train in private, group or semi-private lessons where they may ride their own horses, ride one of the 40 school horses, or lease a school horse as their own. Students are encouraged to share their love of horses and love of riding in the classroom with our Equine Science Elective. This upper-level school science elective is open to juniors and seniors who have completed Biology. The course takes a serious academic approach to studying various breeds, the anatomy and physiology of the horse, and horse management. Students meet at the barn for regular sessions with the School’s veterinarian for hands on learning including learning the principles of medications, preventative health care and nutrition.
