The opportunity to study Equine Science at Sul Ross State University has allowed many students to expand their knowledge about the exciting and constantly evolving equine industry. The SRSU Equine Science program can give you the educational background necessary to gain the skills needed for success in a variety of fields within the equine industry. You will find that the Equine Science program gives you a complete look at the horse and its environment. The objective of the program is to educate you about the diverse uses of horses, as well as equine nutritional needs, reproductive management, training techniques, and business managerial skills. All of the classes are designed to take the student out of the classroom and into the equine facilities. There is a national and international internship program. Over the last five years, the Equine Program has grown by 82 percent. A $6 million renovation and new construction project to allow more hands-on experiences for students have been completed at the Agricultural facilities.
