Wasatch Academy's Equine Science Program offers students the opportunity to excel at their passion for riding. Students learn stable management, horse health care and nutrition, equine reproduction, and horse training techniques. Students have the opportunity to ride on a daily basis. They can choose to ride more than 30 different horses of various breeds. These horses are well-trained, well-disciplined and provide learning opportunities for the beginning to the advanced rider. Students may ride either English or Western disciplines or a combination of the two. Students who are preparing for competition or just riding for pleasure focus on setting obtainable goals while achieving better overall horsemanship skills. Program subjects include: behavior, training techniques, equine reproduction, stable management, equine health care, animal nutrition. Students enrolled in the Equine Science class earn .5 credit/semester towards a high school diploma. English riding study: dressage, equitation, jumping, hunter under saddle, and polo. Western riding study: western pleasure, horsemanship, reining, roping, and high school rodeo.
